Echoes

Echoes bounce
never landing
pouncing
here to there

tears shimmer
tears you put there
with hollow promises
echoing
reverberating

I thought I was
a stronger woman
and my heart was
more guarded
but you slipped
by on whispers

Just echoes
of what could
really be
bouncing away
into the unknown
